Social Media Out Of Fashion By 2025?
the social media exodus is nigh?
AI might be spelling the end of social media according to the latest Gartner Digital Forecast Report.
Here are some of the main outtakes:
Social Media Transformation: Approximately 50% of users are anticipated to significantly reduce or completely abandon social media, largely due to the spread of misinformation and the rise of toxic online environments.
Preference for AI-Free Brands: There will be a notable shift towards AI-free brands. By 2027, about 20% of brands are expected to emphasize their non-use of AI as a unique selling proposition, catering to a market segment skeptical of AI-generated content.
Generative AI in Creativity: The creative industry will be undergoing a revolution, with an estimated 80% of advanced creative roles incorporating generative AI by 2026.
Organic Search Evolution: The landscape of organic search is poised for a significant change. By 2028, the rise of generative AI-powered search tools could lead to a decrease of 50% or more in organic search traffic for brands. This shift necessitates a strategic overhaul in marketing and SEO tactics. I wrote about this yesterday, read it here if you’ve missed it.
What does this mean for ecommerce sellers?
Well don’t worry about it too much…right now. AI is still novel, people still can’t clock in a Midjourney pic vs the real deal (despite the mangled fingers), and brands should use AI to get their productivity up. BUT like all good things, this will come to an end. (prob by 2025) and the Q will be about how brands will adapt then…
