Amazon’s AI Tool That Will Answer Shoppers Qs About Your Product

Amazon has introduced a new generative AI tool in its mobile app, designed to streamline the shopping experience for its customers. This tool allows users to ask specific questions about a product, with the AI providing answers within seconds. The AI synthesizes information from product reviews and listings, offering a more efficient way to gather product insights without having to sift through pages of reviews or detailed product descriptions.

The tool is distinct from OpenAI's ChatGPT in that it does not engage in conversations but can respond to creative prompts, such as writing product descriptions in unique styles. (check out the Yoda example above) However, it remains focused on product-related queries and avoids unrelated topics.

This is part of Amazon's broader integration of AI , including AI-generated summaries of product reviews and tools for third-party sellers.

What does this mean for ecommerce sellers?

For ecommerce sellers on Amazon, this signifies a shift towards more AI-driven customer interactions. This tool could enhance customer engagement by providing quicker, more relevant product information, potentially leading to increased sales conversions. On the other hand it could also disadvantage sellers by over-emphasizing negative parts of their listings as we’ve seen it does with the AI-review summaries. What’s interesting is that Amazon is starting to roll out pretty significant changes on the back end too as a prep for the AI-reshuffle. You can watch this great video with Amy Wees and Vanessa Hung discussing all the changes happening to flat files.
