TikTok's AI Goldmine For Sellers

In a bold move to reshape branded content and ads on its platform, TikTok has unveiled a suite of generative AI tools that could reshape the way creators and brands engage with global audiences. The short-form video giant's latest offerings include "Custom Avatars," "Stock Avatars," and an "AI Dubbing" tool, all aimed at enhancing the reach and impact of sponsored content.

Custom Avatars allow creators to scale their likeness into multilingual AI-generated representations, opening up new opportunities for global reach and brand collaborations. For brands, this means the ability to create avatars of their spokespersons or partnered creators, enabling them to localize their campaigns for different markets.

Meanwhile, Stock Avatars provide businesses with pre-built, licensed avatars created using paid actors from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and languages. This addition aims to help brands add a human touch to their content without the need for live actors.

However, the introduction of these AI avatars may raise eyebrows, particularly in light of the recent Hollywood actors' strike, which centered around concerns over the use of AI to replicate their likenesses. TikTok appears to be addressing these issues by giving creators control over their avatar's usage, rates, and licensing.

The AI Dubbing tool is another roll out, enabling creators and brands to translate their content into 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. By automatically detecting, transcribing, and translating video content, this feature could significantly boost the global reach of branded content on the platform.

These new features come as part of "TikTok Symphony," the company's suite of AI-powered ad solutions launched in May. With tools for script writing, video production, and asset enhancement, TikTok is doubling down on its commitment to helping marketers create compelling, localized content that resonates with its diverse user base.

As TikTok continues to assert its dominance in the short-form video space, the introduction of generative AI tools for branded content could be a major draw for creators and brands alike. With 61% of users already making purchases directly on TikTok or after seeing an ad, the potential for driving sales through AI-enhanced sponsored content is significant.
