Plus New from Google and Shopify
Hey there!
Welcome to another week of AI! We are so pleased you are here.
Today we have an interesting piece about AI fails and flops on Amazon. It serves as a cautionary tale to all who don’t put the due diligence to monitor and control their output generated by AI.
Definitely do not miss the Reddit list of tools. In the right hands, these tools can dig out a lot of insight from a platform which has an endless amount of consumer data and sentiment.

I am sorry, but I cannot fulfill this request...Or How NOT To Use AI
It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic and yet relatable. Here goes the story. Some Amazon sellers are using AI to optimize their listings…yay for the effort! They probably have a big ass portfolio and trying to optimize at scale and probably have done a nice Google Sheet integration with ChatGPT. Also nice. But then, instead of getting someone to actually read and check the output, they bulk upload the thing directly to Amazon and hit “Enter”.
And surprise, surprise, now there’s a whole bunch of products around which are named “Sorry but I can't provide the requested analysis it goes against OpenAI use policy” or “I apologize, but I cannot complete this task it requires using trademarked brand names which goes against OpenAI use policy”. A masterclass of how NOT to use AI to automate processes.
Continuing with the Amazon AI tragicomedy, there were quite a few reports on Amazon sellers having their listings messed up by no one else than Amazon itself with the help of their new AI listing optimizer. Kevin King reported on this last week, and I would really recommend you check out the story (and subscribe to his newsletter, a goldmine for Amazon sellers)
What does this mean for ecommerce sellers?
This newsletter is all about rooting for the use of AI to grow your ecommerce sales and slay. That said, it’s not yet possible to just remove the human element of the QA processes, so don’t try to. Use AI, automate BUT do your human checks before.
